Welcome to

The Telgen Tattler

Click here for the latest vacation report!

It's new! It's improved! It's still got the hokey alliterative name—because even though we’ve returned home from England, we still think of its tabloid culture with wistful fondness (or maybe not). This webpage is a cheap and easy way for you, all our friends and family, to keep tabs on what the Telgens have been up to (maybe not recently, but some time in the past). It's also a way for Diane to avoid doing housework, freelance work, any kind of real work…

The Telgens are Bill, Diane, and, of course, David.

Since he thinks he's the center of the universe (and what eight year old isn't?), we've given him a place in the center of our webpage. This is David with our new kittens, Clio and Calliope (no, they’re not named after a PDA and a musical instrument, but after Greek muses). David is doing his best impression of a kitty wrestling ring. (Those felines may look like they’re being friendly, but the brawling starts soon after—they are sisters, after all.) David has just started third grade, and reads books everywhere (just like mom and dad). He loves writing and says he's good at math, too.

As for the adult members of the family, we’re still getting adjusted to life back in the good ole U.S. of A. Four years in a foreign country—and England is a foreign country, even if we share the same language—tends to change your perspective a bit. In the meantime Bill is enjoying his new position and new office at the RenCen with a lovely view of the river. Diane, when not rearranging the house, is working on a new novel and the occasional freelance job. Not to mention serving as family travel agent and chronicler—so take a look around the site!

For those of you who haven't been on our e-mail list, or who treat all notes from "neglet" as junk mail, or who just can't get enough of that quirkily written Telgen news, you can now access our newsletters from this web page. Here's the archive of our tales of life in England:

Neglet Editorial Services

Providing writing, copyediting, proofreading, indexing, and coding services.

Okay, that's just my name for my little freelance business. I'm not incorporated, and I sure don't have a mission statement (unless I take it from the immortal words of Sesame Street's Cookie Monster: "Work hard. Play fair. Eat cookie."). But I will do all kinds of editorial work for money (cookies don't direct deposit into the bank, and I wouldn't know how to report them on my tax return anyway). I even have a readers' pass for the British Library, for which I had to prove I was a real writer. So if any of my old pals in the publishing business are checking this site out, get in touch! You can fall for it too—er, I may be able to do some work for you. Contact me at: diane at neglet.com

A Mage and His Dog

Yes, Diane has actually finished that fantasy novel she sometimes admits to writing. And yes, she's finally started putting some of it up on the website. So click here if you want to read Chapter 1; if you'd like to adventure further after reading that, send me a note and I'll e-mail you the next chapter.
